Set within 350 acres of stunning heritage parkland, Royal Norwich Golf Club is home to an internationally acclaimed golf course and academy, alongside a vibrant programme of social events and dining.

Following significant investment in the club over recent years, Royal Norwich is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead its day-to-day operations, drive commercial performance and shape the club’s future development.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership position offering genuine responsibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact on an established golf club.

Reporting directly to the Chair and Board, the General Manager will take ownership of the club’s operational performance, financial results and strategic direction. The successful candidate will lead a strong senior management team, drive revenue growth and deliver an outstanding experience for members and visitors across golf, clubhouse, food and beverage, and events.

The club is looking for a visible, accountable leader who combines commercial acumen with a strong understanding of golf club operations and a commitment to service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the club, taking full ownership of its profit and loss performance.
• Support, develop and motivate departmental heads across sales, golf, catering and events, fostering a culture of service excellence and commercial accountability.
• Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to grow membership, golf day business and venue sales.
• Deliver a high-quality food and beverage operation and an engaging programme of events for members and guests.
• Work closely with the greenkeeping team to maintain exceptional course conditions and protect the quality of the golfing experience.
• Report financial and trading performance, including budget variances, to the Board.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, licensing requirements and operational standards.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience in premium golf club management in the UK, ideally as a General Manager, Club Director, Resort Manager or Managing Secretary.
• Strong knowledge of golf operations and course management, including tee sheet optimisation, revenue generation and the importance of course conditioning to the overall member and visitor experience.
• Experience delivering a high-quality, in-house food and beverage operation.
• A successful track record in revenue generation, business development and event sales.
• Strong financial management skills, including P&L ownership, budgeting and performance reporting.
• Excellent leadership skills, with a proven ability to build, develop and motivate effective teams.
• Outstanding communication skills and the confidence to present to and work closely with a Board.
• A flexible, hands-on approach, including a willingness to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
