Everton Football Club has announced that its new waterfront home, Hill Dickinson Stadium, will be transformed into a massive interactive golf course this summer. In a landmark move, Upper Deck Golf will take over the venue from Thursday, July 16, to Sunday, July 19, marking the first time the experience has been hosted outside North America.
The four-day event will see tee boxes placed high within the stadium's stands, challenging participants to hit approach shots onto custom greens laid out on the pitch below. The event is designed to offer a festival-style atmosphere featuring music, food, drinks, and various golf-related challenges.
Upper Deck Golf has previously held events at iconic American venues such as Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium, and Wrigley Field. Its arrival in Liverpool represents the brand's European debut.
Aaron Duckmanton, Chief Revenue Officer at Everton, highlighted the significance of the event for the new stadium:
"We are delighted to be bringing Upper Deck Golf to Hill Dickinson Stadium. It’s an experience that has been delivered at some of the world’s most iconic venues, and this is a great opportunity for people to see our new home from a completely different perspective."
Duckmanton added that the timing coincides with the 154th Open Championship at nearby Royal Birkdale, allowing the club to tap into the region's golfing fever. "It’s a fresh and memorable way to engage with the stadium during one of golf’s most historic tournaments," he said.
The stadium will operate from 7am to 9pm throughout the event weekend. Attendees can expect:
Tee times are available in two-player slots, with high demand anticipated.
The initiative aligns with Everton's broader strategy to utilize Hill Dickinson Stadium as a multi-purpose destination. "We’ve always said we want the stadium to be more than just a matchday venue," Duckmanton noted, "and events like this show how we can use the space in new and innovative ways."
