A new community and visitor facility, the Home of Golf Hub, has officially opened in the center of St Andrews. Located on Market Street, the hub marks the first permanent town-center presence for St Andrews Links Trust, the organization responsible for managing the Old Course and seven other local links courses.
The multifunctional venue features exhibitions, informational displays, photography, and retail offerings, designed to provide insights into the operations and history of the trust.
The launch event was attended by local residents, golf industry representatives, and senior officials from the St Andrews Links Trust. Ahead of the official opening, the trust hosted an evening drinks reception for representatives from the tourism, sport, and hospitality sectors. Opening day activities included a mini golf competition for guests.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by Sandra Tuddenham, chair of trustees at St Andrews Links Trust, alongside 18-year-old Abigail May, a leading Scottish amateur golfer who developed her skills through the St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association.
1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie, the last Scottish male golfer to win a major, attended the opening and spoke about the significance of the town and the new location.

“St Andrews means so much to golfers across the world and the local community alike,” Lawrie said. “Introducing this new space right in the centre of town is a great opportunity to share and celebrate the history and the people that make the Home of Golf unique.”
Lawrie also referenced his history at the venue, adding: “I’ve enjoyed some unforgettable moments in St Andrews throughout my career – including hitting the first shot of the 150th Open Championship on the Old Course back in 2022 – so it’s always special to come back and explore the memories that connect me to the town and its courses.”
May, a lifelong St Andrews resident, highlighted the impact of the local facilities on her career.
“I’ve lived in St Andrews my whole life, and the Links Trust’s courses have completely shaped my golfing career. This is where I realised my passion for the sport, and I still get chills every time I play the Old Course,” May said.
She noted that the hub is “a great addition to the local community” that “has the power to inspire more young people to get involved in golf and hear all the stories that make up the incredible history of the Home of Golf.”
