The Belfry Hotel & Resort has detailed how its water recycling and irrigation system is preparing the Brabazon Course to host the upcoming Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo. This marks the venue's sixth consecutive year hosting the tournament.
The event, which attracts notable players such as former Masters champions Patrick Reed and Danny Willett, requires high playing standards managed by the resort's greenkeeping team.
Despite dry weather impacting water resources across the UK, The Belfry maintains its championship surfaces using an irrigation system powered by recycled water.
An onsite processing plant treats wastewater generated across the resort and directs it into holding lakes and a reservoir. Powerful pumps then draw this water directly from the reservoirs to irrigate the course, preserving local freshwater supplies.
Angus Macleod, Director of Golf Courses & Estates at The Belfry, highlighted the operation's goals:

The Brabazon Course features strategic bunkering, lakes, and greens that have hosted notable golfers including Seve Ballesteros, Sam Torrance, and Rory McIlroy.
This year’s tournament marks the start of the Back 9—the second phase of the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai schedule—offering increased Rankings points to competitors.

The Husqvarna British Masters adds to the venue's historical involvement in professional golf. This tournament will be the 23rd event hosted at The Belfry as part of Golf’s Global Tour, a history that began in 1979 when the venue hosted the Lada English Golf Classic, won by Seve Ballesteros.
