Premier Turfing has acquired the operational assets, specialist machinery, staff, and active project portfolio of golf course contractor John Greasley. The acquisition establishes a new dedicated golf construction division under the name Premier Golf.
For over 40 years, John Greasley operated as a golf course construction firm in the UK, specializing in championship course remodelling, complex drainage systems, and new course builds. Following the acquisition, the existing team and machinery will continue operating under the Premier Golf entity.
The transition builds on a long-standing commercial relationship between the two organizations. Premier Turfing has served as a subcontractor for John Greasley on UK golf course construction, renovation, and drainage projects for the past two decades.
Premier Turfing was established over 20 years ago by father-and-son duo Robert and Ian Mawer. The company provides construction, drainage, irrigation, renovation, and maintenance services across various sports sectors, including Premier League football venues, rugby grounds, racecourses, educational institutions, local authorities, and golf courses.
Following the sale, Charlie Greasley will exit the sports turf and golf industries to pursue new business ventures with his family.
Ian Mawer, managing director of both Premier Turfing and Premier Golf, commented on the strategic rationale behind the acquisition:

Premier Golf confirmed that the integration will combine John Greasley’s specialized contracting experience with Premier Turfing's operational resources. The company stated that operations for existing clients will remain unchanged, with the same personnel and equipment continuing project delivery backed by additional corporate investment.
