WARSAW, Poland - In a major step toward promoting eco-friendly sports management, the Board of the Polish Golf Association (PZG) has officially established the Commission for Sustainable Development of Golf and Greenkeeping.

Serving as a specialized advisory and consultative body, the new commission is tasked with guiding the Polish golf industry on key matters surrounding environmental protection, sustainable development, and the implementation of modern, eco-conscious practices for maintaining and operating golf facilities.

The newly formed panel brings together a distinguished group of industry experts:

  • Krzysztof Misiaczyński (Chairman of the Commission)
  • Rafał Chwalisz
  • Kamil Prokopiuk
  • Witold Siwko
  • Monika Nowaczyk
  • Magdalena Gąsiorek

"Our goal is to demonstrate that modern golf can thrive in harmony with the environment," said Chairman Krzysztof Misiaczyński. "We want to combine knowledge, experience, and innovative technologies, promoting responsible golf course management, rational water and natural resource management, and limiting the environmental impact of our operations."

Misiaczyński emphasized that the Commission is designed primarily to serve as a platform for industry-wide collaboration, offering practical support and knowledge-sharing across Poland’s golf sector.

Core Objectives and Strategic Mandate

To achieve its goals, the Commission will focus on several critical operational areas:

  • Environmental & Resource Protection: Advocating for biodiversity and the responsible management of natural resources across all Polish golf facilities.
  • Greenkeeping Best Practices: Developing and disseminating high-standard guidelines for turfgrass maintenance, soil management, and sustainable greenkeeping.
  • Climate Resilience & Water Strategy: Formulating recommendations for the PZG Management Board on water conservation, the integration of reclaimed water, and strategies to strengthen golf courses against shifting climate conditions.
  • Education & Training: Initiating, organizing, and backing educational campaigns and professional training programs focused on sustainable turf management.
  • Technological Innovation: Encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge solutions for efficient course maintenance, smart water management, and real-time environmental monitoring.
  • International & Local Partnerships: Fostering close collaboration with the Polish Greenkeepers Association, individual golf clubs, and prominent global bodies—including The R&A, the European Golf Association (EGA), and the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf.

Through these initiatives, the Polish Golf Association aims to position the country's golf facilities at the forefront of environmental stewardship in European sports infrastructure.
