St Enodoc Golf Club has announced the appointment of Tim Cowley as its new Head PGA Professional. Cowley will oversee golf operations, retail, and coaching at the venue, officially taking up his role at the start of October.
He first joined the north Cornwall club in June to begin a transition period alongside long-standing resident professional Nick Williams, who is retiring at the end of September after 45 years managing the pro shop.
Cowley joins St Enodoc after spending over a decade as Head Professional at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club, a role he took on at 24 years of age. During his tenure at the Sussex club, he ran his own retail operation, developed a teaching reputation, and built relationships with members and visitors.
According to club officials, Cowley was selected following a multi-stage recruitment process.
"After meeting Tim several times throughout the recruitment process, it was clear he has a calm, Member-first approach, excellent communication skills, and a real appreciation for Clubs with strong tradition and character," the club stated. "He impressed us greatly with the energy he possesses and his proven track record of successfully running a retail operation of a similar size to our own."
The club confirmed that Cowley’s arrival will not change internal decision-making structures, traditions, or club culture. The appointment follows feedback from members regarding the future of the golf professional role.
"Throughout this process, we have been committed to ensuring that this appointment strengthens what Members already value about St Enodoc," the club noted. "We will continue to be very careful to preserve everything that makes St Enodoc the Club it is today, while making practical improvements that many Members have asked for over several years."
The club added that it looks forward to this next chapter while wishing Williams a well-deserved final year prior to his retirement.
