
A massive £480 million luxury development featuring a five-star Hyatt hotel and nearly 200 homes has been proposed for a site near Wellbank, Angus. The ambitious "Brae of Angus" project aims to transform existing farmland into a premier international destination while retaining its current 18-hole championship golf course.
The Shank of Omachie site, located west of Carnoustie, is slated for a comprehensive overhaul. According to initial proposals submitted to Angus Council, the development will include:
The site was recently acquired by Angus Land Company Ltd (ALC) and is currently owned by the private investment firm Mocca Capital. Developers have emphasized a "commitment to recruit and train a local workforce" to support both the construction phase and the long-term operations of the resort.
"The development represents one of the most significant hospitality investments in Scotland in recent years, with a projected investment of approximately £480m while delivering considerable local employment opportunities," a spokesperson for the project stated.
The firm further noted that the goal is to create a "world-class destination" that elevates the region's profile.
